After losing 30 kilograms, I want to tighten my body. Does more food mean more muscle? I tried it!

More food - more muscle?

  • Phase 1: Away from finished products, more vegetables, more exercise in everyday life. The bulk of the extra kilos tumble.
  • Phase 2: 80% natural and healthy diet with only Cardio sports units. The last 5 kilos slowly say goodbye.
  • Phase 3: Desired weight reached! Looking completely unbelieving in the mirror and looking forward to animal.
  • Phase 4: Building Muscles. Now it's getting critical.

So far, I've gone through every imaginable mistake you can make on your way to an intuitive and healthy lifestyle. You know what? I am grateful for that! So now I know about myself that ...

  • ... Running is no longer sports and I'm getting knee pain from it.
  • ... Calorie Counters make me want to control myself. >
  • ... a pure low-carbohydrate diet makes me go limp.
  • ... I can not forbid anything because I want it much more then.
  • ... my will power for extreme diets is sufficient for a maximum of 3 days.

MORE EATING - MORE MUSCLES

That and many other wisdoms I found out for myself with the Trial and Error Method . My current challenge is to move from "I want to lose weight" to "I want to build muscle."

Because these are two very different things. In a completely untrained person, it is initially possible to lose fat and build muscle. But if you come to a certain point of basic fitness and normal weight, you have to choose one of the two options:

  1. I eat as many calories as I consume, about my weight

  2. I build muscle and increase my basal metabolic rate.

Because you knew that building muscle the only sustainable way to increase metabolism? Roughly speaking:

The more muscle, the more calories the body burns when at rest.

That is, The body consumes more and more energy, even at rest. This condition is actually against the "natural state". Because the more energy you use, the more food you have to absorb. Stone Age man did not always have plenty of food at hand. That's why the body refuses to build muscle, and during a Lent, it first breaks down the muscles to protect the vital functions of the body.

Muscles are for our body a luxury. Our bodies do not build muscle until we overuse AND enough protein and nutrients to mend and strengthen them close. If our body is showing signs that we currently do not have enough food (diets), it will first degrade the precious muscles.

So why is muscle building up? challenge me?

For over 2 years, I lived in calorie deficit, to lose weight. It worked great too, as my deficit was very low and I took my time and did some sports. But now to build muscle with strength training, I have to bring enough food to my body so he knows "Hey, we're fine, no stress, you can sprout up the muckis".

That's why I have continued to eat well in recent months, but gradually relaxed the reins. Portions were measured by eye rather than kitchen scales.Since I stopped paying attention to calories, but rather to gusto, intuition and feeling, my weight has stabilized at 65 kg. Completely relaxed. It varies by +/- 1 kg but since January nothing has changed.

EAT MORE - MORE MUSCLES

I have more energy, I see progress in strength training and my body is firmer and not lush-thin. Whole honestly - so I can spend the rest of my life without me lacking something.

For me, it was a pure enlightenment when I realized that my body was just more Food needs to be fully functional.

If you live in calorie deficit and you feel slack, impotent, unfocused and tired and you do not see any improvement in strength training you may just eat too little. Just try it out how you're feeling when you eat a little more every day for 2 weeks. Maybe a few nuts and an apple as an additional snack. Or a cottage cheese with fruit for dessert. Small steps. If you're worried that you're going to increase, you can still go into deficit after two weeks.

But for me, the realization that my body needs more substance, a true revelation!

Now my next project is strength training! In the next few weeks, I will try out a few things on how to incorporate the training in my current stressful professional life and how my muckis are finally growing. I'll stick with you A pummel gets fit Stay up-to-date on Instagram!
